Seasonal Baking Class: Winter Citrus Cakes
Kiss My Bundt Baking Academy @SURFAS
While we normally associate citrus fruits with summertime and lemonade, in Southern California, we see an abundance of Blood Oranges, Grapefruit, Naval Oranges and Lemons in our Winter Months.
This baking class features our favorite cakes that feature the tart and sweet sides of citrus.
Upon arrival, students will receive their recipe packets, and then get an overview of the underlying food science behind the recipes from Chef Chrysta Wilson of Kiss My Bundt Bakery.
Students are teamed up to make the following recipes:
- Lemonade Cupcakes with Lemonade Buttercream
- Grapefruit Pound Cake with Tart and Sweet Grapefruit Syrup and Grapefruit Glaze
- Fresh Orange Bundt Cake with Blood Orange Glaze
- Blueberry Lime cake with Lime Glaze
- Classic Citrus (Lemon or Orange) Curd
Students will learn proper baking techniques to frost, fill and decorate their cakes.
BONUS: Because this class takes place at Surfas Los Angeles, students will also recieve a discount coupon to shop in one of Chef Chrysta Wilson's favorite chef meccas.
Classes are $75 and this includes material fees. Students will take home a box of cakes created in the class.

Kiss My Bundt Bakery
Kiss My Bundt Bakery is a Los Angeles-based botique bakeshop that specializes in delicious, made-from-scratch Bundt cakes and Southern-inspired confections.
In March 2009, the Kiss My Bundt Baking Academy was born to teach students how to bake cakes and frostings from scratch. By its one year anniversary Chrysta and her Chefs had taught over 1,000 students throughout the Los Angeles Area.
Students learn food science, food lore/history, as well as how to bake incredible cakes, simply from scratch.
The Kiss My Bundt Cookbook authored by Bakery owner and Chef Chrysta Wilson continues to be integral to the Baking Classes.
